Good & fun
Just got this app for my iPad 3. I was having difficulties using Google for reverse image searches, even with the Chrome app (to date no extension for iPad). So this app allows you to take a picture or upload one from your device. It instantly connects to reverse search engines Google, Tineye, and Karma something. So thats the cool thing about this app -- you can actually use these search engines from a mobile device. And then it will tell you about matches found on these search engines. Its important to note that this app isnt doing the searching. Therefor the searches are only as good as the engine it uses. Interestingly, Google did the best by far. I tried images from newspapers of famous people. Google located my original sources plus other ones AND came up with images of the same people. Tineye occasionally came up with sort-of matches. According to that Karma search engine...well, these famous people hardly exist. Incidentally, Tineye also didnt do well directly on their website, either (at least with my lesser-known -- but web published-- photos). Google didnt find any of my lesser known photos either. However, they always came up with an interesting collage of images with similar characteristics. This could prove useful. I didnt see any way to enter a photos URL, though. Seems like this would be a good addition. BOTTOM LINE: easy to use and compare search engines. As these search engines improve, this app will become even more valuable. Works. Worth the small fee.
